Frankie Marcos is a pioneer and one of the most distinguished members of The Miami Sound, a musical movement of international recognition, which credits his band Clouds with the inclusion of impressive horn arrangements and an avant-garde sound. A very talented saxophonist, composer, arranger, and producer, Marcos has received multiple Grammy nominations, which include one as “Best Pop Instrumental Performance” for “Oh, Havana, When I Think of You,” a duet with the world-renowned trumpet player Arturo Sandoval, considered a standard or classic in cool jazz radio stations worldwide. He has been labeled a Hispanic Quincy Jones by market experts, due to his productions for musical greats like Armando Manzanero and others, as well as recordings that have crossed boundaries and radio categories, taking Frankie Marcos to almost all continents.

Former Death Row Records Artist, SKG Links Up with Producer Bobby Blakdout “Big Chains, Big Grill” Reboot’D.

Recently Bobby Blakdout teased a preview of the “Reboot’D Edition” of Big Chains, Big Grill on his Instagram page @dayumbobby which features the vocal stylings of SKG and Paul Wall with production by Bobby Blakdout & B1G L1CK.  The single is set to release on Bobby’s Label Blak’d Out Records but we do not have an exact date at this time.

Former Death Row Records artist SKG and Independent Label Founder & Producer, Bobby Blakdout, recently linked up for announce the official “Reboot’D” remix collection. The official remix collection includes heavy hitting tracks like “Big Chains, Big Grill” which features the Houston Legend Paul Wall and is produced entirely by Bobby Blakdout and Bobby’s friend B1G L1CK.

The Official “Reboot’D” Remix will lead you believe you are listening to a “Pop Smoke” style “drill track” until you notice the buildup which transitions the track into a beautiful yet chaotic rhythm which helps serve as an anthem for the Houston “Donk & Slab” scene.  The heavy sound design in the drop will make you feel like you are “sippin’ purple” while riding through Houston in a bagged Classic Chevrolet Impala sitting on spokes and bouncing off the frame.

Bobby Blakdout & B1G L1CK do their thing behind the boards while rivaling top industry artists like Skrillex and Borgore, while SKG & Paul Wall deliver heavy hitting lyrics that will have you craving more.  The track itself give a vibe of “Purple Lamborghini” but provides a more modern and much heavier drop while some critics have even gone as far as to state that the “Reboot’D” mix of “Big Chains, Big Grill” put songs like Purple Lamborghini to shame.

We expect to hear an announcement of the full list of official remixes soon.

“Big Chains, Big Grill (Reboot’D)” will be available on all streaming platforms via Bobby Blakdout’s label Blak’d Out Records.

23-year-old Cardiff born Welsh rapper Darnell Ramone Williams (DFlexXx) has a unique, credible and commercial sound that is a blend of Hip Hop and Trap – predominantly rooted in the contemporary UK Rap scene. He developed his performing skills from the young age of 6 as part of dance troop Jukebox Juniors who achieved traction following their feature in a BBC Documentary and went on to appear in children’s TV shows & in films. Following on from this, DFlexXx diversified and, after studying music at Bridgend College and ACM  London, he discovered his natural talent for rapping and songwriting, and so decided to pursue the path of a professional rapper. Strange Times is the new four-track EP from North Pope. In the words of North Pope:

This EP was my suggestion to the collective. I started to think about it during the curfews in France, we were locked inside our apartments and the future seemed very uncertain by this time.

I always dreamed about doing a record on my own but I didn’t really know where to start, as it was my first EP. What I was really sure about was the style that I was going to deal with: the Coldwave. I spent all my teenage years listening to bands such as The Sound, And Also The Trees. Even recently, I was very amazed by the resurgence of the genre by Eastern European/Russian bands such as Ploho, Molchat Domo and so on.

Why “Strange Times”?

Strange are the times we are living in. War, terrorism, political abuses, sexual harassment, rapes, racism… Humans are not very humane anymore. This EP gathers all my views about the world we are living in.

Who is North Pope? North Pope is a collective of artists created in 2022. Its purpose is to support and encourage the creation of all of its members. No guideline, no style constraint, the collective ventures from project to project on the new grounds brought by the different members.

A veritable sandbox, the collective’s environment allows our artists to explore and experiment musically but also visually thanks to the talents of graphic designers and videographers that we are proud to count in our ranks. North Pope benefits from the years of experience of its members acquired through several groups and projects in order to offer valuable advice to anyone who would like to get started.

Clarence Ward III and his band Dat Feel Good are one of the most sought-after neo-jazz bands based in the DC/MD areas.

Ward III is a flugelhornist, saxophonist, and trumpeter whose lion’s heart style of playing positions him as the vanguard of reinforcing jazz musics’ vital voice in these modern times. He has performed with a diverse range of artists including Gladys Knight, N’Dambi Blue, Robert Glasper, Nancy Wilson, Musiq Soulchild, Benny Golson, Aretha Franklin, and toured with R&B Soul Singer Ledisi.

Music critics and fans alike say that “[Clarence] is in a lane of his own,” when it comes to his flare and style of playing. He named his band Dat Feel Good because it is the way he wants listeners to feel when they leave his shows.
